DALE DICK

DALE DICK

November 4, 1969 – December 22, 2019

With sadness, we announce that Dale passed away suddenly December 22, 2019 at the age of 55 years.

Dale is survived by his brothers Dave (Heather) and Darryl (Karen); aunts Hilda and Cathy; and uncles Randel and Terry. Dale was predeceased by his parents Olga and Kenneth and Kenneth Dick.

Dale was the youngest of three boys and grew up in Winnipeg’s North End, on Flora Avenue, where he and his brothers had many, many friends. As was true of children of an earlier time, he spent most of his days outside playing sports like baseball, football and street hockey in the summers and ice hockey in winter. He also loved board games; many cold winter nights were spent playing games such as Rat Race, Masterpiece, Ulcers, and Risk with family and friends. One of his favourite games was ‘Face Off’ and he became quite adept at wheeling and dealing and building a championship hockey team. The wonderful memories we have of those times with Dale will remain in our hearts forever.

After completing school, Dale eventually worked for the federal civil service and was there for a number of years. He became the ‘go-to-guy’ for his brothers and friends when information was needed about federal pensions, benefits, etc. When his mother’s health started to decline, Dale left his position to become her full-time caregiver. Without this commitment, she would have had to be placed in a care home. Dale had a kind heart and made the sacrifice willingly and with love. He made his mother’s final years happy ones, and this was just another example of his compassionate and loving nature. His family will always love and honour him for it.

Goodbye and Rest In Peace Dale, our beautiful brother.  Until we meet again.
