DENNIS FREDERICK BEBAK
October 21, 1940 - December 17, 2024
We are saddened and heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our Dad, Dennis Bebak, on December 17, 2024, at the age of 84.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Eleanor; brother-in-law, John and daughter-in-law, Arlene. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (David); son, Michael; granddaughter, Megan (Phil); brother, Keith (Helen); sister, Judy; nieces Sharon and Christie; nephew Patrick and grandcat, Marvin.
Dad was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 21, 1940. He loved fishing and nature, jaunts to the local casino, and meeting over coffee with friends and acquaintances at one of the local shopping malls to talk about life’s experiences and happenings. He always had to be on the move and going somewhere, even when he did not have the mobility he used to and needed to use a powerchair.
Dad was kind-hearted to his family and we have seen this displayed towards others. He had an old-fashioned attitude of helping your neighbour when they needed help. He was creative, resourceful and capable and could come up with a solution to most situations off the top of his head. I once told him if I was stranded in the frozen isolated wilderness or on a desert island, I would hope it was with him rather than anyone else because I knew he would keep me alive!! His modesty only allowed him to be surprised at this.
We are thankful to Dad for his exceptional work ethic which he displayed for 29 years at CP Rail in a job that was labour intensive and very hard on his physical body. He endured this and other such hardships out of pure love for his family. He did what was necessary to make sure we didn’t go without. After looking back on life, we can truly say he is our new superhero.
When Dad passed away, we lost our strongest supporter. Throughout our lives, he consistently and aggressively advised us on how to deal with different situations that came our way. He did this not to interfere, but because he was desperate to have everything work out for his children. That’s how much he loved us. He had a wisdom we didn’t appreciate at the time that likely developed from all the various struggles he had in his life. His advice and suggestions were usually right.
Dad,
We really expected you to come out of the hospital and go back home, unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way this time.
We miss you.
Life will not be the same without you on this earth. You were and are very much loved by your kids.
We hope your life is easier now.
You deserve it!
Cremation has taken place. As per Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. A private family interment will take place in the Spring.
Dennis’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
