FRANÇOIS BOURASSA
December 26, 1963 – February 26, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved François Bourassa, in the Health Sciences-Center in Winnipeg on February 26, 2025, at the age of 61.
François is survived by his son Julien; daughter Solvej; their mother and ex-life companion Chantal Houle; father Paul-André; mother Carmen; brother Louis; sister Julie; other family members and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
François was a passionate educator who found great purpose in teaching technology to Indigenous communities across Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. François believed in the transformative power of education and worked tirelessly to bridge gaps in access and opportunity for students in remote areas. His work in the communities he served was not just about teaching technology, but about fostering empowerment, self-reliance, and innovation. François’ compassion, patience, and dedication left a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of learning from him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, François was a kind and loving father who deeply cherished his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
A celebration of François’ life will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 in Nativité Church, at 75 Rue Morris, Sherbrooke, QC.
François’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I worked with Francois for several years at Petit Casimir Memorial School, alongside him as a teacher, then actually hired him when I became Principal. Francois was extremely helpful when it came to technology; he did an overhaul for our entire system and network here in the school, and made everything workable and manageable. He would work long hours, was dedicated to the job and improving the school/student success. A bit of humour; Francois was subjected to the school band every day after school as we practiced (we were in neighboring classrooms), and he would often joke about hearing our songs in his sleep. Expressing my condolences to his family, friends, and everybody affected. I attached a staff photo of his most recent year at PCMS.
