Stasha Brunner
STANISLAWA “STASHA” BRUNNER
February 7, 1947 – October 31, 2024
It is with great sadness Stasha Brunner passed away peacefully after a brave battle with dementia at The Golden Links Lodge at the age of 77.
Stasha is predeceased by her mom Josephine Kuzmin and her Mother-In-Law Julie Brunner and Father-In-Law Wendell Brunner.
Stasha is survived by her husband Ron, of 52 years; her two children, daughters Sonja (Russ) and Kristine (Paul); and her two grandchildren, Audrey and Andrew.
Stasha was born in Germany of Polish decent. Stasha moved to Canada at the age of two, settling in Montreal. Here, as a secretary at Rust, she met Ron who would become her husband in fall of 1972. During this time they built a family and had two children. They enjoyed family outings at their cottage in Lac Macaza, Quebec for many years.
After accepting a transfer, Ron and Stasha moved to Winnipeg. Stasha and Ron continued to have many more moves to Manitoba and Saskatchewan over the years which landed them back to Winnipeg in 2013. Here, she attended many country concerts, plays, musicals and many shopping trips with her daughters. She enjoyed these shopping trips and bonding over lunch with them.
Stasha also enjoyed crocheting Christmas wreaths, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She adored her two dogs, Tigger and Auzzie, and loved taking them for long walks. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Stasha excelled at all kinds of baking and she had the best cheesecake, crepes, and apple fritters! When she wasn’t baking or crocheting, she was an outstanding dart player and won a championship!
Stasha was a very smart, quick witted, and had a sense of humour. She was a very strong, compassionate and caring mom and would do anything for her family.
Stasha will be deeply missed by her family.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Marlie Du Plessis who cared with so much compassion for Stasha for 11 years. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Golden Links Lodge staff for their compassionate and loving care they gave mom.
It was Stasha’s wishes to not have a service.
In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
Stasha’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I will always remember your mother. She was always very kind with me when I visited your home. As a child, I enjoyed having lunch with your mother.
