Marcel Dacquay

GEORGE “MARCEL” DACQUAY
March 21, 1940 – March 23, 2025
On March 23, 2025, Marcel Dacquay aged 85, passed away peacefully from cancer at Seven Oaks Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Angeline Hitchie and Joachim Dacquay.
He spent nearly 30 years of his life working for the Province of Manitoba until his retirement in 2001.
Marcel found solace in his special place on Lake of the Woods at Rush Bay, where he would often retreat to relax and enjoy the peace and the beautiful surroundings. In his youth he enjoyed time spent at his grandmother’s farm in Saskatchewan.
Marcel shared many wonderful memories with his partner, Roberta Kinne, who predeceased him in 2022. Their bond was one of love and companionship.
A proud supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Marcel was an avid fan and a season ticket holder, never missing a chance to cheer on his team.
He is survived by his sister, Denise Hawthorne (John); his brother Roger Dacquay (Dianne); as well as his nieces and nephew, Brad, Cari, Jennifer and Shannon; along with their children and one great-great nephew. Marcel will also be greatly missed by his lifelong friends, Tony, Ernie and Arlene.
Marcel was always ready to sit and chat over a cold beer or a glass of wine. He enjoyed doing that at The Waverley and although his time there was short, Marcel made friendships and enjoyed the wonderful staff.
The family extends special thanks to the Staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion during his final days, as well as neighbour, Ross Webster, for his unwavering support and kindness over the years.
In keeping with Marcel’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held.
Marcel’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Our sincere condolences to Roger, Denise and your families. As the son of your first cousin Norbert Dacquay, it was wonderful to meet Marcel and Roberta and all our extended cousins at the Dacquay family centennial celebrations held in July 2005 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB. May Marcel rest in peace in God's loving arms and may our Lord bless you and your families with much peace and consolation in this difficult time.

My condolences to Marcels' family. He was a special friend to Ed and our family. Being season ticket holders, they both enjoyed the Bomber games and looked forward to their get- togethers for coffee at Tim Hortons. He and Roberta (he called her his angel) often joined us for family dinners at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving - he said he always enjoyed a good "feast" and he was always interested in what was going on in our lives. It''s a comfort to know he and Roberta are together again- Rest In Peace 🙏

Marcel was my best friend and a constant source of support throughout my life. His kindness and unwavering loyalty made the world a better place, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had him by my side all these years. I will cherish the memories we shared, especially our times at Rush Bay, and his spirit will forever remain in my heart. Rest in peace, Marcel. You will be deeply missed, my friend.

We only knew Marcel this past year, but he was so kind and funny, he doted on the animals and kids. He loved our mom and made her feel so special and blended into our family seamlessly. Our time with him was far too short, but will remember every moment that he shared with us. our deepest condolences to Marcel's family for your loss.

Our condolences to Uncle Marcel's family. Many fond memories of Uncle Marcel and Aunt Roberta..them coming to the farm for visits or us visiting in Winnipeg. Uncle always took interest in how all our pets were doing, listing them individually during every phone call. He was very special to us as he was to Aunt Roberta. Breakfast tradition when the kids were little always included "Prancer" cakes and antlers. He missed Aunt Roberta so much but now together they will be.
Two of our favorites that we will miss.
