DAPHNE JUNE MARIE DAVIDSON

March 14, 1926 - June 25, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Daphne Davidson (née Hill, Rogers) passed away on June 25th at Tuxedo Villa at the age of 96.

She is survived by her son Philip (Christine); grandchildren Mel (Trish) and Katryna; great-grandchildren Emma, Hayley (Sarah) and Brandt; step-grandchildren Perry, Scott, Jodi, Michael and Grant.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Edward and Clara, her first husband Ron, her second husband, Jack and step-children Jacquie and Bill.

Daphne was born in the Camberwell district of London, UK. She would often relate stories about living through World War 2 in London, telling us how she would hide under her bed as Spitfires chased Messerschmitts barely over the rooftops.

She moved to Canada in 1949 and got the travel bug, touring from Winnipeg to the southern United States and Western Canada before returning home.

She worked at the RWB, CKRC, C-JAY and later in life, The Manitoba Teacher’s Union and CJOB. Daphne was a devoted mother and Nana. She shared her passion for football and the arts and was a staunch supporter of the RWB, the WSO and RMTC. She enjoyed entertaining and hosted many special events at her Tuxedo home on Bower Blvd. and her Tuxedo Estates condo. She loved having the family over for a swim and then spoiling them with delicious meals.

She spent many hours at the Tuxedo Tennis Club and loved not only playing, but watching every televised tennis match. She was an avid reader, always having a copy of the latest best-seller at her side. She was a huge fan of Broadway musicals and knew the words to every song and sang them constantly.

Special thanks to the kind and caring staff at Tuxedo Villa, Daphne’s home for the past 6 years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

In Accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In the meantime, Daphne's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I will always remember this lady. Daphne was beautiful inside and out. Daphne treated me like her daughter . I loved our Fridays steak dinners  with her Jack and Philip. She taught me many life skills. I adored her family (Johnson's). Rest In Peace. Helen Macaulay (Rogers)
