KEVIN SHANE FLETCHER

November 1, 1979 - November 4, 2020

It is with a deep sadness that we announce the passing of (Kevin) Shane Fletcher, age 41, on November 4, 2020.

Shane tragically lost his battle with mental illness and depression, leaving behind countless family and friends, most notably his two, beautiful boys.

Shane is survived by his wife Ashley (nee Taylor), sons Finn and Sebastian, his mother Gloria, father Kevin (Shelley), sister Lora (Jethro), their 5 sons Austin, Nicholas, Gabriel, Jacob and Lucas, and brothers Evan and James.

Shane was a proud and loving father, and devoted husband. He was happiest with his little family around him, whether it was watching movies, playing Pokemon Go, having living room MMA battles, or telling outlandish tales to the boys. His hugs were never in short supply!

Shane was passionately involved in the local music scene the entirety of his adult life. Playing in various bands over the years, his latest project being RamsKull, with his amazing chosen brothers Mike, Carson and Keegan.

More recently he found an outlet for his natural gift of talking, story telling, and sharing his knowledge of strange and obscure things when Shane and Mike, along with his other chosen brother Dave, started the Bloviators podcast.

Writing and playing music, creating the podcast, getting together with his gaming group, camping and participating in our family and friends Mario Kart tournaments brought Shane joy.

It is our sincerest hope, that his demons have released their hold, that Shane has found peace, and is now able to feel all the love, friendship, and admiration from all the lives he has touched.

A private family viewing has been held, followed by cremation. A celebration of life will take place in the future once gatherings can be accommodated.

Shane’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Shane's memory, in support of suicide prevention within Manitoba, through reasontolive.ca

When I heard the news that Shane had passed I felt such disbelief. As Im sure most people had felt. I'm still in shock. We had played many shows together with our bands. Band trips to Edmonton & saskatoon. Playing places like the crescent fort rouge church to dives like the Windsor. It was good times! I hope that he can rest now. I hope his family can find peace and forgive. Tina

I didn't get to know Shane very well, but our bands played a lot of shows together when I first started playing in the music scene, he was always such a friendly person to me and some of my fondest memories of that period of time include him. All these years later I still put on Sixteen Eyes albums from that time in my life. My heart goes out to his friends and family, rest in peace

I remember Shane coming over to the house for a few hours ,he was probably around 4  . Walter and I had not started our family but we had Kim’s munchkins along with Lora and Shane. This one day Shane was sitting in he toy box with a plastic hammer hitting himself in the head and making us all laugh. . He had the cutest laugh.  Last time I seen Shane was in 2016. He was a great father ,husband ,friend and nephew. He will always hold a place in our hearts.

Best memories with Shane were in high school. Poker in our Skills of Independent living class. Every time we had the class. Eventually the teacher gave up even trying to stop us. Rest in Peace Shane.

Norma and I remember Shane's parents as well as the two Wabush families they came from. Words cannot suffice in a situation like this. We hope that the out pouring of support that will come from your roots will help sustain you all.  The humble recognition that we we are known and appreciated in the lives we lead brings us all closer together.  Thank-you for sharing this difficult news. Sending deepest sympathy to Shane's immediate family and his extended family in the music community.  It was when his band played at CFR and when he attended shows there that I met Shane.  He was a good man who will be greatly missed especially by his family.  May he have found the peace in his new realm that he could not find here.

A very touching tribute. I was lucky enough to consider Shane a good friend. I met him maybe 7 or 8 years ago when I was looking for a new gaming group via our mutual friend Steve. The first time I met him was in the Tim's parking lot, when I was auditioning for the opportunity to join their weekly game. Stood around talking about a lot of stuff in the middle of summer, all the while fighting off mosquitoes that were swarming us. I ended up becoming friends with Shane and Ashley, and got to know Bas and Finn a little bit as well. For me, it was more than getting together for a game night, I got to hang out with really good friends. I'm going to miss his stories, fun facts, and all of his jokes that made us all laugh. My condolences to all of Shane's family and friends. The world lost a really wonderful human being.
