BYRON HAMRLIK

September 12, 1946 - July 20, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of Byron Hamrlik, at the age of 75 years, who passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Health Sciences Centre.

Byron was born on September 12, 1946, to Edward and Agnes Hamrlik, in Hodgson, MB

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving and caring daughters, Angel (Donald); Brittany (Chad, Jamison); Lauren (Kelly); grand-daughter Rayne; sister Valerie.  He will also be sorely missed by his relatives, friends, neighbours, and lifelong schoolmates workmates that he kept in constant touch with throughout the years.

Byron was predeceased by his loving wife, Wanda, of 44 years; his parents Edward and Agnes Hamrlik; father and mother-in-law Louis and Reta LaRocque; sister Donna Hamrlik; brother-in-law Stewart Botwright; sisters-in-law, Doreen Letexier, Dawn LaRocque, and Tracy Vandersteen.

Byron attended grade schools at Lee Lake, and Marble Ridge, Manitoba, getting his high school education at Fisher Branch, Manitoba.  In his early years he enjoyed working alongside his father on the family farmstead until deciding to take a trades course in welding in Winnipeg and getting a job there.  He was employed at J. R. Wire Inc. for most of his working career as a welder but became an accomplished machinist for them which he enjoyed even more-so because it challenged his sense of creativity.  He and his family continued to enjoy the farm property as their country get-away visiting with other family and friends for many years.  Being a man of action, he became a superintendent of a small apartment building after retiring from J.R. Wire. He finally fully retired in 2021.

At this time cremation has taken place.  An interment service will be held at 11:30 am, September 10, 2022 at Hodgson Cemetery, Hodgson, Manitoba, followed by a fellowship at the Hodgson Community Club.

In the meantime, the family kindly requests relatives and friends to honour Byron’s memory by sharing photos and memories using the comments section on this page.

Byron was so kind and fun loving with a smile that would fill his whole face and light up a room. I will always remember my visits to the farm with my sister and how fun he made them. The snowmobile rides around the fields in the winter and tractor rides in the Summer. The time spent with the bull and all of us chasing a squirrel around the kitchen trying it out of the house after it came in through the window. He will be missed by so many who loved him. Rest in peace Byron. ❤

Byron made my visits to the farm so memorable. He took my sister & I snowmobiling, tractor riding and he even let us feed the bull when we were up there.  A kind and gentle soul, he will be missed xxxx

Sincere sympathy to Byron’s family and to his sister Val. I spent many a Summer on the farm with Donna. Loved Agnes her singing, yodelling, guitar playing. The goose berry picking, the bull with the crooked horn. Going to town for ice cream with Donna and her dad in the old green truck. So many memories

My sincere condolences to Byron’s family. My daughter lived in the building where Byron was the building superintendent. Always friendly and took great pride in his work. Happy and talkative to my grandchildren whenever he saw them in the hallways.  No matter what he was doing he would stop and take the time to share a smile and say hello. RIP Byron

Thank you so much for sharing Val! Our most sincere condolences to you and his family!  Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.  I remember Byron as being so fun filled and getting  the teachers  to join him unwillingly with laughter in class!..he was a very likeable classmate!  R.I.P.
