MICHAEL RANDALL KUPCHIK

September 1, 1953 - May 31, 2024

On Friday, May 31, 2024, we said our last love you’s and goodbye’s to Randy, a beloved husband and Dad. Randy passed on peacefully at home.

Randy was survived by his wife of 42 years (Brenda), his daughter (Krysten, Grand-dog Boss) and son and daughter-in-law (Michael and Nikki, Grand-dog Vinny). Randy was extremely proud of his family. When asked if he had any favourite memories on his last days he began describing how marrying his wife and making memories with his children were his greatest accomplishments.

Randy was predeceased by his parents Gladys and Mike Kupchik, and in-laws Ainslee and Steve Rosjer. Randy was also survived by his sisters Debbie (Chuck) Bodine and Candyce (Bill) Aisman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy lived for retirement and referred to every day as being a weekend after retiring as a counsellor from Veteran’s Affairs. He truly enjoyed working with the Veterans. Once retired Randy was known for his care free mentality and quick witted and dry sense of humour… who are we kidding, this was ongoing most of his life not just retirement!

Through out the years Randy enjoyed golfing, reading, family bike rides, and lunch with his buddies. Randy was known for being a movie buff and could recite tons of irrelevant information. However, nothing seemed to make Randy happier than spending summers at the cabin with his family and friends.

Randy wanted to give special thanks to his medical team, for the ongoing support. Special thank you to Dr. D Hartley, the Palliative Care team, and the MAID program. His dentist Dr. P Pass was also a wonderful presence and support.

To say Randy will be missed is an understatement. His family and friends will continue to speak of him often and his memory will live on. We will continue to talk about how loved and missed he is, and how brave he was to his last day. Shine on, Dad.

My heartfelt sympathy to Brenda and the family. I worked briefly with Randy at Veterans and remember his kind, down-to-earth nature. He was great to work with and I am sorry to hear of his passing. May your wonderful memories of him bring you some comfort at this difficut time.

Had a lot of good times with Randy in my misspent youth, mostly involving beer and karate.
