KAREN "JANEY" LETNIAK

September 22, 1971 – October 18, 2019

With the shock and sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Janey Letniak, on Friday, October 18, 2019, our daughter, sister, mommy to her fur baby, auntie, relative and beloved friend.

Janey will be sadly missed by her father Steve (Linda), sister Sheila (Norm), brother (Steven), and numerous family and friends.

Janey is predeceased by her mother Louise Green, stepfather Ralph and her grandparents.

Janey was a kind hearted person who loved life, her fur babies, travelling, gardening, exercising and a good cup of coffee.  She did not have her own children but she loved animals especially her Chihuahua Chico and Miss Kisses and her cats, Roti and Tuna.

Janey got the itch to travel earlier in her life and spend many great holidays in Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and her favorite; Mexico.  The sound of the ocean waves, the sand between her toes and the heat of the sun was her peaceful place.  Janey was a true fitness fanatic.  She loved to work out and to throw a few good punches.  If Janey was not digging around in her garden, she was in the kitchen baking up a storm.

Janey loved spending time with her friends and many of times the old cribbage board would come out and you could hear her say Double or Nothing or ShamWow!

Janey would not want us to cry over her passing but to enjoy life. To her true friends she would want them to remember her by sparking one up. Think of her when you are having a coffee or kiss your fur babies.

A Celebration of Janey's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019, at the First Unitarian Church, 603 Wellington Cres and Academy Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered at a later date.

I met Janey in grade 8 at Gordon Bell high school always had a crush on her in high school. One memory that sticks out is i hid a cat in her locker to scare her. Rest easy girl.

Very poignant  pictures and song.. so nicely done , it really shows her vibrancy ! It’s comforting to have a belief in heaven but in the meantime hearts ache here. My brother knew her for well over half his life and me his only sister witnesses the effect of her passing on him ..it’s hard .. have to say Take care everyone  Sincerely  Karen S

My sincerest and deepest condolences to her family and friends near and far. Janey will always be remembered for her kindness and strength through me and all who knew her. She was amazing, loving, and kind. She was kind to me when we were teens and remained that way until her passing. Let the Creator be your warmth now my friend and the sand between your toes.
