ERNIE ALBERT MILLER

July 18, 1954 - March 13, 2023

We are saddened to announce the passing of our Brother, Uncle and Friend Ernie Albert Miller. Ernie passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side at 10:10 pm on March 13th, 2023 at the age of 68.

Ernie was a kind-hearted soft soul, loved the outdoors, crosswords, long walks, reading the paper and building wooden hobby toys for his nieces and nephews.

He loved listening to The Beatles, Alice Cooper, Tom Jones, and The Doors.

He was always willing to give a helping hand for anyone he thought needed it and also to anyone that asked.

Ernie was born in Barrie Ontario, Canada but lived in Nova Scotia and Winnipeg.

Ernie’s Mother (Emily) and Dad (Earl) had seven sons and Ernie was the fourth born. Ernie was an exceptional Brother to all of his 6 brothers (Glendon, Richard, Jim, Roy, Bobby and Gary) He was a great Brother in law to his Sister in laws (Gabriele, Angela, Debbie, Heather and Monica)

Ernie was an amazing uncle to his nieces (Michelle, Samantha, Stephanie and Sarah), his Nephews (Nicolas, Anthony, Josh, Trevor, Raymond), Great Nieces (Emilee, Mila, Solace) and Great Nephews (Braxton, Cayden, Nova, Saeran and Alaric)

He was a friend you can never forget always knew how to have a good time and put a smile on everyone’s faces. One of the nicknames he was called by some of his friends and family was Ern the worm. Ernie was just an overall wonderful man.

A memory shared by Ernie’s sister-in-Law Gabriele:

While Ernie lived with his Brother (Glendon) and Sister in law (Gabriele) He would always ensure he would scare them here and there to have himself a good laugh

Some memories shared by Ernie’s brother Glen:

When Ernie and Glen were young, Ernie took Glen fishing at a creek in Springhill Nova Scotia on a light rainy day. In between the rocks there was a fish that they called Grandpa as they have been trying to catch it for months. On this particular day Ernie and Glen had Finally caught this larger than normal trout and tourists walking by offered to buy it for a dollar. After refusing Ernie and Glen had taken the fish home and their mom (Emily) made a Big Soup out of it as their Auntie Evelyn and Auntie Rachel were both there.

Another time Glen and Ernie were in the creek. Golden delicious apples started going down the stream. Glen and Ernie were curious to see where the apples were coming from, as they walked towards the creek where the apples were coming from they ended up at an Orchid. They realized then the apples that have been going down the creek were from a huge orchid tree that was hanging over the creek and dropping its apples.

Another memory was Ernie used to go cross country skiing with his brother Glen at Little Mountain Park.

A Poem for Ernie Love his brother Richard:

Oh Ernie, thank you for being my brother:

Big Bro Ernie:

You gave no one a last farewell,

nor ever said good buy

You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why.  A million times we will miss you , A million times we will cry.

If love alone could have saved you

You never would have died

In life we loved you dearly

In death we loved you still

In our hearts you hold a place no one else can fill

It broke our hearts to lose you , but you didn't go alone , for part of us went with you, the day God took you home

We will meet again someday

I know in a better place

I thank God He made you our brother,

while you were here on earth.

Close family and friends of Ernie will celebrate the life that he had at an upcoming family gathering on a later date.  In Lieu of flowers please donate to the Grace Hospital Foundation

Although we are deeply saddened and our hearts are heavy with sorrow we know that Ernie is in a good place as he will reunite with his Mom (Emily), Dad (Earl), and his 2 brothers (Bobby and Gary)

Ernie, We Love you and miss you so much but we know deep in our hearts we will see you again one day

A prayer read to Ernie before he passed written by an Inspirational Spiritual Care Advisor:

Creator of All Life - you know Ernie's life like nobody else does. Ernie was your creation and we are thankful for the years we had with him. Now his body is letting go, giving up. Please fill his heart with peace and the anticipation of meeting his creator. Hear all of the desires, any fears, any regrets, and all of our gratitude, especially that which we don't know how to express. We ask for the courage we all need to let him go. May he sense that support and love as he leaves us. We ask for your peace for his loved ones. Bring your comfort and a sense of being accompanied by you.

Receive Ernie into your loving and joyful presence. We pray this in faith because you invite us to, Amen.

Ernie's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
