RUTH JOYCE O’GORMAN

(née Mullen)

March 21, 1930 - February 11, 2025

After a long and fulfilling life our dear mother passed away just short of her 95th birthday on February 11, 2025, at Seven Oaks Urgent Care.

She was predeceased by the love of her life and soulmate, Stephen Elton O'Gorman, in 2014; and her beloved son, Steven John O'Gorman, in 2023.

She is survived and will be remembered by her daughter Darlene (Greg); daughter-in-law Noreen; grandchildren, Lindsay (Kevin), Rachael, Stephen, Melissa (Levi); great-grandchildren, Kade, Cole, Logan; as well as her estranged son Larry and his family.

Mom was kind, loving but a force to be reckoned with. She was a "Domestic Engineer" all her life, looking after her family, her home and their beloved cottage at Winnipeg Beach. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, bake, had an extraordinary green thumb, was a lover of cats and dogs, and had many throughout her life. Thank you for passing on these traits.

She enjoyed get-togethers with her family from Holiday dinners, pool parties, and bonfires at our homes. As she got older and her memory faded, she moved to Arlington Assisted Living, then to her final home at Lions Supportive Housing where she loved to laugh with her lady friends until the late midnight hours. Thank you to the wonderful 5th floor staff. You made her final past few months there very happy. Also I’d like to thank Greg for his constant love, support, and compassion he’s given my mother through the years. You were my rock.

We will try and remember only the good times as it has been a rough road to have travelled with you mom.

You are finally pain free and in the arms of your soulmate, Stephen. Thank you for all you taught us about life, love, learning, disappointment, heartache, and mostly growing old. Rest in peace, mom.

A celebration of her life will be held later with her family and friends being invited.

Anyone wishing to donate to her memory can do so at Feral Friends Sanctuary (etransfer feralfriends.wpg@gmail.com) or D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre.

Ruth’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

A few of my favourite memories were you making me sugar bread when I slept over as a little girl and winning cans of mandarin oranges when we played Bingo at your house. Good times! ❤

Even though we're were not related through blood , you were always my favourite Aunty , I will always remember your wonderful laugh and that great singing voice when you and uncle Steve used to visit us . i will remember your love of animals and the care you gave to each and every one of them that crossed your pathway , or "snuck" into your house ! You will be missed and loved forever ! RIP Aunty !
