FRANCIS EDWARD POULSEN

January 6, 1938 - March 21, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Edward Poulsen on March 21st, 2025, at Boyne Lodge.

Francis was born on January 6, 1938, in Carman, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Edith Poulsen, and his sisters Margaret Ross, Shirley Hilliard, and Evelyn Kennedy.

Francis leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Ellen; children, Ron (JoAnne), Daryl (Brenda), Darin (Farica), and Angela Livetsky; his adored grandchildren, Candice (Clark) Sisson, Jared (Larissa) Poulsen, Steven (Amanda) Poulsen, Justin (Alex) Poulsen, Taylor Poulsen (Reagan Lepine), Kelsey Poulsen, Carly Poulsen, Shelby Livetsky, Ben Livetsky, Edward Poulsen, Danielle Poulsen, and Thomas Poulsen; and his great-grandchildren Oliver, Malcolm, and Wyatt Sisson; Ryler, Claira, Avery & Tessa Poulsen; Eberle, and Keller Poulsen will also miss him dearly. Francis is survived by his brothers, Don (Jean) Poulsen, and Ross (Beryle) Poulsen, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Francis grew up on the family farm in Culross, MB. He left home at a young age and moved to Alberta to try his hand at ranching.  He attended University of Manitoba attending classes in the faculty of Agriculture. He then returned to Culross to pursue his passion of farming, raising livestock and grain until he retired.

Francis and Ellen met in summer of 1958, and married on August 6, 1960. Francis had a love of nature and all living things.  He enjoyed Sunday drives looking at the crops and scouting the ditches for wildflowers.  Visiting the pasture was an absolute must to see his favourite girls (hereford cows).  He passed along his love of nature to his grandchildren.

He served his community by leading 4-H Beef Club sharing his love for cattle with others for many years.  As well as sitting on the co-op and local school boards.  Although old time dancing brought him an immense amount of joy.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Carman Memorial Hospital and Boyne Lodge for the compassionate care they provided to Francis.

Francis will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 28th @ 2:00 pm at the Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church – 35 – 1st  Avenue NW, Carman, MB.  Fellowship and refreshments to follow at the Carman Legion Auxiliary Hall (attached to the Carman Legion) 28 - 1st  Street NW, Carman, MB.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Francis’s memory to Cancer Care, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

We always enjoyed Francis"s dropping to visit us on his farm. The stories he told us were very delightful. He really cared for his neighbours and loved Culross. We miss him

Uncle Fran always took great delight in showing this city girl how life on the farm works. He will be missed.
