TERESA ST. AMANT

May 27, 1960 - February 25, 2024

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Teresa St. Amant passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2024. She was given a few months to live when diagnosed but beat the odds surviving more than two and a half years.

Teresa loved being surrounded by family and friends. She was a second mother to her younger brother, Roger, spoiling him and having him stay with her often. She had a passionate affair with cooking, baking, and entertaining.

Born in 1960 Teresa grew up in Fort Rouge attending Riverview and Churchill schools where she developed long-lasting friendships. She met and married Louis the love of her life and was always there for her. She was forever grateful for his love.

Teresa was a good wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was predeceased by her parents, Elsie and Mas Nishi, her brother, Roger, brother-in-law Jeff Collins, and sister-in-law, Bev. She leaves to mourn her husband, Louis St. Amant, sisters Cheryl Collins, and Roberta Palmer (Mark), brothers Les and Vic Nishi (Myra), and many nieces and nephews.

The family is forever grateful for the excellent care she received in the palliative ward at St. Boniface Hospital.

A Celebration of life will be held on March 7th starting at 2:00 PM at the Transcona Legion at 117 Regent Ave.

Teresa’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

So many wonderful memories with auntie Teresa.  Making crafts, baking, sleepovers. Im very grateful that my girls were able to make similar memories with her.  Family gatherings won’t be the same without you, We will miss you so much auntie…

I am so saddened to hear of Teresa's passing. Teresa was my "Winnipeg BFF" . We 1st met when we were 9 years old on my first family trip to visit the Winnipeg relatives. Teresa and I had a mutual cousin so we always felt we were family too. I made many trips to Winnipeg since that first visit and much of my time there was spent with her. We shared many adventures together! I remember the sleep overs where we would stay up until the wee hours of the morning sharing all of our hopes and dreams for the future. As we grew older, our visits became far and few between and eventually we lost touch for many years. But several years ago we re-connected via email which I am so grateful for. I will always remember her as that free spirited young girl with a kind and tender heart and a beautiful and infectious laugh. Our plans of a reunion just wasn't meant to be, at least not in this life time. RIP my friend!

She will be greatly missed.  Her  generosity, love of family and friends and entertaining were so important to  her . I will cherish all the time we spent doing crafts, cooking and baking and the special events you planned for our families.

I am grateful to have had you as my friend since high school . She had touched the hearts of so many .

The saying goes "find a true friend and you find a treasure" and that's exactly what Teresa was...a true treasure. I grew up with Teresa and I was really blessed having her friendship all these years.

I met Teresa who I always knew as Terri, over 20 years ago when we lived in Winnipeg.  We became friends immediately.  She was like a sister to me.  She was loving, nurturing and generous of heart.  After my husband had a terrible stroke and gran mal seizure the following year we moved to Arden, near Neepawa so my husband could heal and we could simplify our lives.  I kept in touch with Terri and was devastated when I heard that she had cancer.   I will miss her and love her always.

There is a lot to say about first impression.

Shortly before moving away to Ontario my family enjoyed Louis and Teresa’s hospitality. We were so happy for Louis to find someone, who like him, gifted with generous heart, warmth, and in making you feel very welcome.  There was no uneasiness, sometimes one may feel with new in-laws, but instead it was like if we had been family all along.

She touched our hearts and will be dearly missed as a member of our family.

Met Theresa some time ago she started to play cribbage. We became best friends and partners in crime. We would go to different casinos especially South Beach, club regent and sometimes McPhillips  Street. I miss her dearly she always was doing something for you. Miss you
