LESLIE VIGBALD STEVENSON

November 20, 1938 - August 17, 2021

Les passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 17, 2021, at the age of 82 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynne; sons Brian (Jennifer) and Jason (Amanda); beloved granddaughters Lily and Kylie; sister Alda Tait as well as brother Freeman Stevenson (Claire).

Les was a longtime employee of MTS; after retirement, he and buddy, Elmer Broschuk, started Custom Wiring and installed many alarm systems. They were very proud to assist Lynne's nephews, Tom and Chris Oakley start up Oakley Alarms.

Les and Lynne were fortunate enough to spend their winters in Florida and summers on their boat on Lake of the Woods for many years.

He was a lifetime member of the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club and spent lots of happy years helping out in the yard.  He was also a member of the West St. Paul Curling Club and curled for many years.

Les finally used up his nine lives. He had quite a few close calls over the years, but somehow managed to make it through. He raced motorcycles, then went on to race cars at Brooklyn Speedway. He spent many happy hours riding and fixing boats and snowmobiles,  a passion he passed on to his sons.  He made many great friends through these activities.

The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre and Middlechurch Home. They also kindly request that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

As per Les' instructions, there will be no service at this time.

We enjoyed Les' company for many years in Florida, daytimes at the pool and evenings on the balcony at the Dolphin.  He was a witty, thoughtful, caring man, with a quiet way about him.    Our condolences to Lynne and her family.

I have to blame/thank Uncle Les for my lifelong passion for motorcycles. In 1957 myself and a neighbour decided to skip school and spend the day at the playground near home.  Well the school called Grandma Stevenson and she sent Les to search for me.  He easily found me and placed me on the back of his Triumph motorcycle and drove me to school.  To this day I remember and cherish that first ride.  Thank you Uncle Les.

Our deepest condolences to Lynne and her family on the death of our dear cousin and friend Les. We first met Les in the summer of 1981 and enjoyed spending time with him and his family in Winnipeg a few times thereafter. Best thanks for a good acquaintance and unique hospitality during visits to Canada. We also loved having the brothers Les and Freeman visit us in Iceland.

In in his own quiet way, Les made a positive impact with those who had the privilege to call him friend. Through the years, we shared many great times - boating, snowmobiling, parties, dances and of course the hats and wigs. Les, you will remembered with love. RIP friend.  Condolences to Lynne, Brian, Jason and families.
