ANGELA “ANGIE” VAN DEN HOVEN

June 1947 – April 2025

Angela van den Hoven was called home 08 April, 2025 in HSC at the age of 77.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years Herman; children, Geraldine and Sonya; 4 grandchildren; and many extended family and friends, etc.

Angela was not always the happy person she is known to be in later life, she has had many sorrows and trials. When she married her husband, Herman her life did become sweeter. She experienced many firsts during this time such as her first limousine ride, her first airplane ride, and her first air to ground telephone call.

Angie loved her family -- Brothers and sisters, children, and grandchildren; and was, in turn, loved as well.

She loved flowers both real and artificial, but sometimes money couldn't be found for even the cheapest flowers. As Angie aged, she could no longer climb stairs so family birthdays were celebrated at restaurants.

Angie had a long battle with back pain and a hiatus hernia. The latter was so large that several operations failed to correct it. Finally, HSC placed her on life support, but even with that she was slipping away. As family we decided to remove life support and allowed her to die with dignity. She is not dead. She is more alive that you or I, because she had a relationship with Jesus.

A celebration of their life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 in the lounge at 601 Osborne St (Fred Tipping Place) and another service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 549 Gertrude (Trinity Baptist Church).

In Accordance with their wishes, cremation has taken place.

Angela’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
