SHEILA MARGARET WATSON

(née BAXTER)

August 21, 1933 - April 7, 2025

The family of Sheila Margaret Watson (Baxter) are saddened to announce the passing of their beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother on April 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91.

Mom was born in St. Vital to loving Scottish parents. She is survived by her 4 children, David Watson (Shari), Peggy Watson, Laurie Watson (John), Wendy Stephanchew (Rick); 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased in July, 2024 by her devoted and loving husband George of 69 years of marriage. She told us daily how much she missed him and wanted to be with him again.

Our Mom was lovely, strong, kind, intelligent, gracious, and friendly. She was a devoted wife, amazing Grandma, lifelong avid reader, knitter, crocheter, baker, churchgoer, soap opera watcher, supportive Mother, and loyal friend. She was the heart of our home. We will miss her greeting us with, “Hello Love,” and miss her involvement in all aspects of our lives. She was an angel in the shape of our Mom.

Till we meet again.

Say, “Hi,” to Dad for us.

A small family celebration of life will be held in June on our parent’s 70th wedding anniversary.

Sheila’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

We were saddened today to see our wonderful friend, confident and motherly advisor had passed away to return to the arms of her beloved George. George and Sheila were the best neighbours anyone could ever have and we often spoke of them to our children, and wondered where they had got to. Bless them both and to the family that have had them in their lives for so long, they were loved and will be remembered Bev and Doug Radford and all the kids!

Dear Laurie. Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your mother, especially after the recent loss of your father. The loss of parents creates a void in one's life that only family and friends can fill. Thinking of you and your family during this trying time.

I wish to express my sadness on the passing of Sheila. I adored both Sheila and George. I always looked forward to seeing them and thoroughly enjoyed every moment I spent with them over the last 20 years. I will miss them.

In her oh so Scottish way, I loved how she spoke her mind. Even when we were little kids, I always enjoyed coming over to the house and 'catching up' in the kitchen. And married to George for 69 years?! What an accomplishment ;) Hugs all around, Watson fam. xo
