Muriel Carden Rhind passed away on December 11, 2022.  She was born in Dryden, in 1938 to Eric and Elsie Rhind and the family subsequently move to Scarborough where Muriel attended Teachers College, and upon graduation accepted a teaching position in Richmond Hill.

 

Muriel had a passion for travel that took her to Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Russia, and Egypt.

 

In 1963 she accepted a teaching position in Deep River where she met her soulmate Sam. They married in 1974 and subsequently moved to Winnipeg, where Muriel taught until her retirement.  She was an active member of the Winnipeg University Women’s Club for many years, developing many significant friendships.

 

Muriel was predeceased by her husband Sam Aboul Atta, her parents Eric and Elsie Rhind, and infant sister Sharon.

 

As per Muriel’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and interment will take place at a future date in Dryden.

 

We extend a grateful thank you, to all the physicians, nurses, RPNs and health care aids at St. Boniface Hospital who provided exemplary care to Muriel during her hospital stay.

We would also like to thank her friends, Linda, Irene, and Julie for their attentiveness to Muriel during the past year, and especially to Linda for her bedside devotion to Muriel during her final days.
